My name is Paige. I am a graduate student studying biosciences, a freelance writer trying to pay the bills, and an aspiring veterinarian. I grew up with horses, read every James Herriot book, participated in years of pony club and have always known I wanted to be a vet. Currently, I work part time for a mobile veterinarian, who has been nice enough to show me the ropes, while finishing up my last semester of my master’s degree.
I am also a writer. I have produced one act plays in Hollywood and off-Broadway, published essays and poetry, and created two blogs about life as a college student and undergraduate research at my previous university. People always ask me how I am going to be both a vet and a writer and, in part, this blog is my answer.
Currently, I live in Texas (though I’m a Colorado girl at heart) with my awesome boyfriend, John; the light of my life Katie, my miniature schnauzer rescue; our goofy schnoodle Louis; and a thoroughbred named Raye, who I am fortunate enough to lease. I am a proud member of my university’s equestrian team and love teaching beginner and therapeutic riding lessons a few days a week. I am an avid runner, fledgling cook, Dave Eggers and Joan Didion fanatic, wine-documentary enthusiast, and DIYer (with projects that are quickly overtaking my apartment).
I am applying to vet school in 2017 for hopeful 2018 admission. Join me on my journey.
